The Master of Health Science in Prevention and Health Promotion at the Technical University of Munich provides an interdisciplinary approach to understanding and improving public health. This programme focuses on equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design effective health promotion strategies and to prevent disease. Throughout this four-semester course, students explore various aspects of public health, including epidemiology, health systems, health behavior, and policy development.
The degree is structured around a combination of modules that cover theoretical and practical aspects of health science. Students acquire ECTS credits for each module completed, culminating in a Master's thesis that requires independent research and analysis. Since this is a public university, the programme is designed to blend academic rigor with practical application, preparing students for the dynamic field of health promotion.
In addition to formal lectures, students undertake projects that involve real-world health issues, reflecting the needs of the German healthcare system and the global context. This programme is particularly suitable for individuals with a background in health sciences, social sciences, or related fields who are passionate about advancing health outcomes in communities.
Graduates can find opportunities in various industries including healthcare providers, non-governmental organizations, government agencies, and private companies focused on health services. The German context presents an excellent setting for students to engage with industry partners in the vibrant healthcare sector, including the strong Mittelstand companies that play a key role in innovation and service delivery.
Post-graduation, students are eligible for an 18-month job-seeking permit, allowing ample opportunity to apply their skills within the German job market and gain valuable international experience while contributing to public health initiatives.
